Given the fact that just over half the U.S. population plays a musical instrument, personalized instruments and accessories are currently in high demand.
Here we'll walk you through the steps of creating a customized leather guitar strap. Epilog created the design but you can further customize the items with names, initials or any other information your customer wants. Additionally, since the design is vector-based, you can resize accordingly to fit a variety of products.
We used a 120-watt Helix with the following settings: 100% speed, 35% power, 400 dpi.
First, remove the small leather extension that comes with the strap. Next, apply double-sided tape to the back of the strap and lay it flat on the engraving bed. It's crucial the strap lays flat or the machine will lose focus in areas that are higher or lower. Open the file sc_guitar_strap.cdr, and in CorelDRAW place a vector box around the strap and, with the red dot point on and lid open, send ONLY that job to the laser.
Once you are satisfied with the engraving area, send the job to the laser and you're all set! Note: this sample club design was created with a whimsical feel - the notes and patterns are supposed to go off the the engraving area, so don't be concerned if the pattern is slightly larger than your true engraving area.
