It's a "bat mobile" unlike any other! Celebrate Halloween with this laser cut mobile with dangling bats!
Painted or unpainted, this charming decoration is perfect for the Halloween season.
We used a 50-watt Helix with the following settings: 15% speed, 20% power, 5000 frequency.
Note: If you plan to paint your mobile, we recommend painting the wood planks first and then cutting them. Open each file and send it to the laser in vector mode to cut the top of the mobile and the individual pieces.
Begin by securing the cross boards. Line up the center holes with one board running vertically and one horizontally. Loop the cord through each hole twice to attain a secure fit. Now it's time to secure the cords. For this part, we recommend suspending the cross boards to make attaching the strings more convenient. We hung our cross boards from a dowel rod with a heavy object holding it in place. Insert pieces of cord through each hole and secure at the end with a double knot. Use a lighter to singe the ends of each piece of cord.
While you can have different lengths of cord in each hole, to achieve better balance we recommend the same length of cord in each space on the varying arms. For example, if you use a five-inch piece of cord in the hole closest to the center, a seven-inch piece of cord in the center hole and a nine-inch piece of cord on the outside hole, repeat that pattern throughout the mobile. After you've secured all the strings, begin tying the bats to the ends. Again, use a small double knot to secure them in place and singe the ends. Secure all the bats to their corresponding strings and you're all set!
