2018 has been an amazing year for Epilog as we celebrated our 30th anniversary. It’s incredible to look back and see how our company has grown in the past three decades. As we head into the New Year we always like to take a look back and highlight some of the most memorable experiences and achievements from the past 12 months.

Milestones - 2018 Marks 30 Years of Innovation

Epilog Laser got its start in 1988 when two Georgia Tech buddies – Steve Garnier, Epilog’s president and CEO, and John Doran, Epilog’s vice president of engineering - combined their talents to create the industry’s first small-format, computer-controlled laser engraving and cutting system.

Mike Dean, Epilog’s vice president of sales and marketing, came on board not long after and the trio set out to become game-changers in the engraving space.

2018 was a year-long celebration of our 30th anniversary, culminating with a lively celebration this summer at Denver’s Mile High Station.

Company Growth

Between our Colorado headquarters and our European office, this year Epilog brought on 15 new employees, filling a variety of roles. From tech support to software design, engineering to administration, we’re excited to continue to add stellar members to the Epilog Laser family!

Adding to our Arsenal of Resources

We continue to add to our online Knowledge Base where users can access a variety of articles on maintenance topics, design techniques, and much more. This year we created a popular step-by-step tutorial for creating custom laser-cut maps in both CorelDRAW and Illustrator, and we also released the Guidebook to Lasers in Education, our newest resource for educators. We also added 12 new projects to our Sample Club, which we update each month with new design files and instructions.

Additionally, we had the opportunity to visit with three customers over this past year who we featured in our new Customer Spotlight section. These videos feature all kinds of Epilog customers who are creating real success with their lasers.

Supporting the Maker Movement

As in years past, Epilog sponsored at each of the flagship Maker Faires in San Mateo and New York City, as well as several local Maker and mini-Maker Faires across the country. We also provided the grand prize in the ninth installment of the Epilog Challenge, which was won by Jon Bumstead for his “Desktop CT and 3D Scanner with Arduino” entry. Jon was the winner of a brand new 30-watt Zing 16! The winning entry was one of 1,016 Instructables submitted for the Epilog Challenge IX. Remembering our Community

Once again we held our annual toy drive for the Holiday Shop at the Action Center. Between our main production facility, sales and marketing building, and technical support building, we were able to deliver literal truckloads of toys for so many kids in Jefferson County. The Action Center’s mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and those experiencing homelessness.

“We’re so thankful for another incredible year at Epilog,” said Mike Dean, vice president of sales and marketing. “Every year has its share of challenges and successes, and as we celebrated our milestone 30th anniversary in 2018, we were blown away by the incredible continued support of our customers, employees, distributors, and all the friends we’ve made over the past three decades.”

2019 is just around the corner and we can’t wait to see what the new year will bring. Until then, we extend our sincerest thanks to everyone for making our 30th year in business so special. Merry Christmas to all – we hope you have a magical holiday season and a prosperous 2019.
